Diet and lifestyle: The key

Recently I did some reading on cholesterol and foods that help lower them. Lemme share some of the information I gathered…

The aim is to lower LDL (lower density lipoprotein), the harmful kinda cholesterol.

There are fruits mostly citrus fruits that help like apples, strawberries,  grapes and even avocados.
There are foods that help too but minus oatmeal, beans (including soybeans) and brown rice they are mainly plant based foods that contain stanol and sterols. Okra and egg plant are good too. Also, eating fish like sardines, Herring, Mackerel, Salmon etc. that are rich in omega 3 fatty acids.
Nuts too help like walnuts, almonds, pistachios etc
The best choice of oil for someone trying to control cholesterol is extra virgin olive oil or pure vegetable oil.

Basically, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, cereals, legumes.

These things make a little difference each but when they become constant features in our diet, help us to get the useful nutrients and vitamins that our bodies need.

The basic thing however is to make lifestyle and diet changes…exercise and eat healthy (the more natural, the better). If we do, we are less likely to run into trouble.

Healthy choices should be a culture we imbibe in our daily living. The quality of our health largely impacts on the quality of our lives. Let’s Stay dedicated to the choices that will enable us lead healthy lives.
Little choices like making fruits and vegetables a part of our diet, choosing to eat meals prepared healthily and stopping excessive frying, eating a handful of nuts everyday, engaging in physical activity all help to keep us healthy.
